Uni highlights eco agenda

THE University of Teesside has planned a week of events under its Sus-tees project in January to highlight the sustainability agenda.

Keynote speakers will include Rob Holdway, the presenter of Channel 4 programme Dumped and honorary graduate Trevor Bayliss, who invented the wind-up radio.

Principal lecturer in design, Paul Denison, who is also leading the sustainability course, said: “The week of events is a forum to bring outside expertise in and showcase some of the students’ work.

“The university is adopting a much more unified approach to these courses, completely mixing up the way we teach students.

“We are working together across facilities - designers working with scientists, technologists and architects to create a course which has its roots in very solid information.

“It’s a unique experiment from our point of view.”
