Awards to recognise service to customers

COMPANIES need to give top quality service if they are to hold on to customers and win new business in today’s challenging business environment.
And the nebusiness awards is looking for the companies that can show their exceptional customer service has helped them build their success. The awards, organised by The Journal and Evening Gazette in association with Business Link in the North East, are hoping companies large and small will come forward to highlight their contribution to the region’s tradition of giving customers what they want.
Last year the Services Award was won by Alnwick-based Eclipse Translations, which also won the same award in the Tyneside and Northumberland sub-regional finals.
The 11-year-old company provides specialist translation support to the Ministry of Defence and defence manufacturers and has helped a number of defence sector companies with their tendering and export activities and helped to support international partnering arrangements.
The company has been a prime contractor to the MoD since 1998 and has steadily extended the services it provides under these contracts.
The business has more than 350 employees throughout the world all helping the defence sector to communicate from the North-East and has continued to see success since winning the award.
Although that award is a long-running feature of the competition the nebusiness awards this year has a fresh new look to reflect the changing nature of the region’s economy. We will champion the most promising new businesses with a Newcomer of the Year Award.
We will celebrate corporate achievements in helping communities and the environment with the Corporate Responsibility and Environment Award. We will recognise the efforts of companies to look after and reward their staff with the Employer of the Year Award and will reflect professional achievements outside the private sector with the Public Sector Organisation of the Year Award.
The awards ceremonies, which have earned a place as highlights of the region’s corporate calendar, have also been given an exciting makeover with all heats and the final hosted by renowned humorist, writer and business guru Guy Browning. The competition will have heats to find the foremost businesses from the three sub-regions of the North East.
The judges are looking for entries from right across the region, from Tees Valley to the Borders, with competitions running for Tyneside and Northumberland, Durham and Wearside and Tees Valley before the regional grand final to find the best of the best.
Companies which have been successful in past years have found the awards inspire pride among their workforce, admiration from the regional business community, and raise their profile and reputation across the country.
