PLANS for an £8.5m hotel next to one of the region’s airports have been approved and work on the development could start early next year.
Peel Holdings, the owners of Durham Tees Valley Airport, say the final go-ahead for the new 100-bed hotel, near the main terminal building, will enable it to push ahead and sign an international hotel brand.
Peter de la Perrelle, director of Peel Holdings (Leisure) said “The three-star hotel will boast a bar, restaurant and meeting rooms and have 106 car parking spaces.
“The hotel will operated under a franchise agreement with a well-known international brand to be announced shortly.”
Darlington Borough Council’s planning committee recently gave the go-ahead. The hotel will be located 300 metres from the airport terminal building.
It will be Peel’s third airport hotel.
