Public sector award backed

MIDDLESBROUGH digital marketing and recruitment company Pearsons is the latest firm to give its backing to the nebusiness Awards 2008.

The firm has become sponsor for the Public Sector Organisation of the Year category at the honours, which are organised by the Evening Gazette and its sister paper The Journal on Tyneside.

This is one of three new categories to be introduced. Others are Employer of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.

The Public Sector award is set to recognise outstanding performance by a public sector, not-for-profit or charitable organisation. The criteria for the award embraces areas of innovation, culture and high performance.

Lilian Hughes, Pearsons managing director, said: “We are delighted to be the headline sponsor for both the sub-regional and the regional awards for the public sector.

“We have a long standing relationship with the public sector in the North-east and by sponsoring this category we can help recognise and profile the achievements made by many of our clients.

“We’ve worked extremely closely with the public sector for over 20 years and have seen a great deal of excellent work and innovation and are delighted that their work is being recognised by the nebusiness awards.”

Pearsons will be sponsoring the awards in association with www.sector1.net, its jobs website, which was re-launched in September.

Pearsons, established in 1986 by Simon Pearson, employs 62 people and has offices in Middlesbrough, Leeds and Newcastle.

The closing date for entries for the nebusiness awards is January 9.

The regional final will take place on April 30 with sub-regional heats taking place during March.
