Making space to grow

STAFF at ITV’s online business directory - Scoot - are settling into their new offices on Preston Farm Industrial Estate, Stockton thanks to Tees Valley Regeneration.

The organisation helped identify the two new office buildings at Preston Farm, which have provided Scoot with 20,000sq ft of office space.

Formerly based in Eaglescliffe, Scoot has grown steadily since its inception in 1996 and now employs more than 80 people.

Niki Torrance, Scoot’s head of marketing and product development, said: “It’s an exciting time to be part of the Scoot team.

“Our business is growing rapidly thanks to the re-brand and re-launch of the new Scoot website and we are looking to more than double our team over the next 18 months from 88 to around 216 - a target that would have been impossible to achieve at our former location which offered virtually no room for expansion.

“We will shortly be looking for local talent in most areas of our business including sales, sales support, IT, administration and customer services.”

Richard Hunter, Tees Valley Regeneration inward investment manager, said: “Scoot is a locally based company which is really bucking the national trend and growing despite the current difficult economic climate.

“They have launched a new website, enjoyed a TV advertising campaign and are looking to attract additional staff. We were keen to ensure they had the facilities to match their success and provide the business support to match their ambition.”
