Uni leavers remain ‘vital’
A QUICK trawl of major employers in the Teesside area appeared to give cheer to this summer’s graduates.
Engineering firm Amec, with more than 700 staff at Darlington and Wynyard, said it did not expect to see any slowdown in its ‘strong graduate recruitment programme’. The firm recently added 70 to its nuclear services division alone and was ‘seriously looking to recruit engineers’ across its other divisions.
Steve Barnes, CEO of Darlington-based online search specialist Infoserve, said the number of graduate recruits had not scaled back. The company employs around 140 people at its Lingfield Point offices.
Between 20 and 25% of its staff are graduates.
North-east recruitment firm NRG, which has three graduates on its graduate programme, says retaining talent is vital to secure the long-term sustainability of local businesses.
