Demand weakens

THE wireless communications and electronic defence equipment group Filtronic, which sold its Newton Aycliffe semi conductors business to RF Micro Devices in 2007, says it expects weaker demand in the months ahead

The company said revenue from continuing operations fell to £18.3m in the six months to November 30, 2008 compared to £20.1m the previous year.

The group predicts weaker demand “due to the slowdown in telecoms infrastructure expenditure resulting from global economic conditions.”

It added: “Overhead and other cost reduction measures have already been taken.”
