New Jurys Inn hotel for Gateshead

A new Jurys Inns hotel is to be built on the quayside in Gateshead and will create 75 jobs. The 'premium budget' chain is aiming to lure both leisure and business consumers to the 200 room hotel to be constructed next to the Tyne, to the east of the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.

Jurys Inn says it is opening up a second North East hotel as the area is so popular withy visitors and featured on the Lonely Planet Bluelist for 2008 as a 'must-see destination'. The Irish company also hopes to capitalise on some of the 19 million or so annual visitors to Newcastle and Gateshead . 

The new hotel on South Shore Road in Gateshead will be only a 15 minute walk from Newcastle city centre and even closer to Quayside bars and restaurants. It represents part of a £90m, four hotel investment by Jurys' strategic development partner McAleer and Rushe. The new hotel will be Jurys Inns' second hotel in Newcastle, witht the other located in the St James Gate development near the Redheugh Bridge.
