Quantum sold in £32.5m deal

A BUY out deal worth £32.5m for North East pharmaceuticals company Quantum Specials has been hailed as showing some sectors are escaping the recession.

The County Durham company has been bought out by private equity house LDC (Lloyds TSB Development Capital) and Yorkshire Bank, with two of the existing directors also increasing their stakes.

Previous owner Phoenix Medical Supplies has sold out, along with three of Quantum’s founding directors.

The company, based in Burnopfield, already employs over 100 staff just five years after it was formed, and it is expected there will be further growth and recruitment.
