TEESSIDE eco design duo Ateliero will showcase a giant lighting installation made from recycled drinks bottles on top wannabe model TV show.

The piece, made entirely from reclaimed plastic, will take pride of place in the communal North London house shared by the girls in Living TV’s Britain’s Next Top Model.

Joanne Riddle, who set up the company with her business partner Ondrej Lewis, is hoping the exposure will help secure further commissions.

She said: “The piece will hang in the hallway of the house where the models will stay, so it will be the first thing they and the cameramen see when they walk into the house.

“We are hoping the links with the show will lead to other opportunities for our work to be used as TV props.”

The pair, both graduates from the University of Teesside where they have a graduate business unit, set out to design attractive pieces made from sustainable sources.

Joanne added: “We are targeting waste streams that would otherwise end up in landfill.

“We are just over the moon - we couldn’t believe it when the piece was chosen.”

Filming of the next series has started and the show is due to be aired in April.
