TEESSIDE “shouts out” as being an enterprising region, according to the acting head of the North-east’s Make Your Mark, the enterprise programme for young people.

Of the 371 events organised for Young Enterprise week in November, two-thirds took place in the Tees Valley, with 75 schools entering a national challenge to find business minded youngsters.

A new intiative - Make Your Mark for a Tenner - attracted 10 Tees Valley schools with one putting forward 380 students.

Reporting last year’s results, Jane Walton said: “Teesside really shouts out as being an enterprising place.”
