CURRYS and PC World owner DSG International has unveiled plans for up to 50 megastores as part of an ongoing revamp of its UK business.
The electricals giant will base the new stores on its 55,000sq ft megastore in Birmingham, which has grown average weekly profits by more than 50% since October and is on course for annual sales of up to £35m.
The company said there were plenty of opportunities within the existing Currys and PC World estate for between 20 to 50 such superstores across the UK.
The megastore trial will be rolled out to five more UK stores this year. It comes as it prepares for the arrival of American electrical retailer Best Buy’s giant superstores in the UK later this year.
The transformation work by DSG has seen the company overhaul 60 UK outlets.
