Expansion is a road sign to success

THE company behind most of the street signs in the Tees Valley has expanded into new premises, investing £400,000 in its new Stockton site.

N Sign supplies street signs to 40 local authorities across the UK, including Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland, Stockton, Darlington and Hartlepool, made with recycled plastic.

Starting out with one member of staff in 2000, the company has continued to expand and now employs 20.

Turnover is also set to top the £1m mark this year.

The company has bought and transformed the former Portrack Conservative Club into new 10,000 sq ft premises.

It is the firm’s fourth expansion in nine years, having started out 1,700 sq ft premises.

The company’s diverse sign portfolio includes van liveries and shop fronts, through to industrial engraving and trophies.

It also created a huge digital print for one of Teesside University buildings as well as producing Boro badges for the Riverside Stadium.

MD Alun Pearson said: “We’ve doubled our customers in the last 12 months, and this new base in Stockton has brought all our operations under one room and gives us room to grow.

“We are looking to expand further and take on staff this year.”

The bulk of the firm’s business is in the North-east, although contracts have taken its work further afield including Exeter and Scotland.

Almost all of its road signs are produced with recycled plastic.

“I’d say 99% of our signs are made from recycled material,” added Mr Pearson.

“We’re working with 40 local authorities across the UK producing signs.”
