Here's how to win your share of £50m

CONTRACTS worth £50m will be up for grabs at an event designed to help North East companies tap into public sector opportunities.

Businesses which may have been put off bidding for public sector contracts because of the complex tendering process will learn how they can cut through the red tape.

The day on April 8 is organised by neprocurement, a consortium of 11 social landlords, with County Durham Development Company.

CDDC managing director Stewart Watkins said: “In the current economic climate there has been renewed interest from companies wanting to work with the public sector, but it is important we do everything possible to make this process easier. Many companies are put off pitching for public sector contracts because of the seeming complexity of the application process. An event like this is aimed at explaining and simplifying this process to make it as easy as possible for companies to apply.”

The event has the backing of the North East Chamber of Commerce, which has been campaigning to encourage the public sector to work more closely with local businesses.

NECC head of policy and research Ross Smith said: “Any event that helps North East contractors to win business from public sector bodies is a positive move.”

The event at Ramside Hall Hotel in Durham will include sessions tailored to contractors of all sizes as well as more general sessions. For details, or to reserve a place, contact Kate Mullin at kate.mullin@valueworks.co.uk.
