Firm adds trainees

ONE of the region's longest-established independent accountancy practices has increased its commitment to training.

Middlesbrough-based Chipchase Manners has recruited three more trainees, taking the number in the firm to ten.

Jonathan Durham, 23, from Hutton Rudby, joins the practice as a trainee chartered accountant after gaining a degree in economics from Manchester University. He joins Martin Pollard, 21, from Stockton, as a trainee chartered accountant. Martin has already qualified as an accounting technician after joining Chipchase Manners two years ago.

The firm is one of a small number of practices in the region actively sponsoring staff towards the Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ACA) qualification.

David Haycroft, 19, from Stockton, is beginning his Association of Accounting Technician training after finishing his A-levels, while Hayley McLean, 20, from Coulby Newham, is also to train as an accounting technician after studying psychology at Teesside University for a year. Both hope to go on and study for the ACA qualification in due course.

A general accountancy practice, Chipchase Manners employs 30 people at its offices in Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough.
