Export chances in Iraq explored

COMPANIES in the North East are being urged to go global in an effort to beat the recession in International Business Month.
UK Trade and Investment’s events in June are designed to encourage new and experienced exporters.
Its international trade director David Coppock said: "Our international trade performance remains strong and we’re keen to encourage more companies to reap the benefits of international trade.
"This year International Business Month also coincides with World Trade Week, which highlights the importance of global trade in creating jobs and growth, and we’re committed to helping North East companies maximise their overseas potential.
"We can rebuild global prosperity and security and create jobs and growth through open and fair markets. More than £11.2bn-worth of goods were exported from the North East around the globe last year and yet only a small percentage of the region’s companies are exporters. We want to encourage more companies to export a wider range of goods and increase the number of export markets."
Business Month events include:
Think Central Europe on June 3 at Durham County Cricket Club, a chance to meet commercial officers from central European countries.
Opportunity: Iraq, on June 11 at Newcastle Falcons Rugby Ground, explores business openings as security improves.
Maritime Industries Roadshow on June 11 at Port of Tyne is a chance to find opportunities in growth markets.
International Water Clinic on June 19 at the Centre for Life, Newcastle, gives details on the water sector abroad.
