Proud moment as firm celebrates anniversary

TEESSIDE-based quantity surveyors Baker Mallett - which has been involved in some of the area’s largest project developments, including the Biofuels’ Corporation Seal Sands’ plant - has celebrated its 90th anniversary.

The practice was established in 1919 by Sydney Charles Baker and John Graham Mallett, based at Lonsdale Chambers on Chancery Lane in London.

Having firmly established its roots in the city it then began to expand throughout the UK and now has seven offices based around the country - in Stockton on Tees, Newcastle, Maidstone, Whitehaven, Warrington, Carlisle and Selkirk.

Over the years surveyors from its various offices have been involved in high profile sites, including Wembley Stadium in the early 1920s, the Sellafield nuclear reprocessing site and the British and Natural History museums.

Ashley Temple, member of the Teesside office said: “As a company we’re extremely proud to be celebrating our 90th anniversary, which is a great achievement for any business. Our ongoing success lies in the strong foundations which has allowed us to build on a reputation for delivering excellent results. Alongside our vast experience we’ve successfully expanded the business even further.

“We have been involved in many significant projects in the region, including the Herriot Visitor Centre for Hambleton District Council and the Equestrian Centre for the Riding for Disabled. As a business very much based in the heart of Tees Valley, we pride ourselves on our ongoing commitment to the growth and improvement of this area.”
