THE number of companies who have registered an interest in competing for work on the London Olympics has doubled since February.
More than 350 Teesside firms have now stepped up to the plate, hoping to follow the success of Billingham lifting engineers Mammoet, which has won multi million pound orders.
The company, which employs 70 on Teesside and 3,700 worldwide, has already helped complete the Docklands Light Railway, which will transport thousands of sports fans to the competition venues.
Across the North-east the number of companies who have registered on the www.competefor.com website, the Government’s tendering website, has doubled from 600 to more than 1,200.
