Sir Alan lends a hand in hunt for apprentice

Sir Alan Sugar of The Apprentice

A WEB design agency has begun the search for its next apprentice following the success of last year’s recruit.

Sunderland based Redup Digital Media appointed 17-year-old Ben Cooper at the end of last year and has been so impressed with his performance, it is now looking for a second apprentice.

Ben, who was recruited through the North East Chamber of Commerce (NECC), last week got the opportunity to meet that icon of apprenticeship Sir Alan Sugar at an event highlighting the business benefits of the apprenticeship scheme.

Redup director Gavin Fawcett said: “Hiring an apprentice is a cost effective way of introducing new blood into any business. It’s been a tremendous help to have someone like Ben who has taken on our business ethic and really delivered his objectives. We are now looking to recruit an apprentice for the web development side of the business.”

NECC training recruitment co-ordinator Leanne Tully said: “Sir Alan’s show has received a great deal of interest since finding his new apprentice; it was great to see him take an interest in one of ours.

“Although it’s not quite as high profile as Sir Alan’s position, Redup’s opening for a web developer is an ideal opportunity for anyone in the region looking to begin a successful career in this field. If Ben is anything to go by then the position should be a really great chance for a new star to begin a fantastic career.”
