Registration alert for land-owners

LAND-OWNERS are being urged to check they are the registered keepers before a hike in the registration fee.

The Land Registry is currently running a voluntary registration scheme for unregistered land with a 25% fee discount, but fees are due to increase on July 6.

Jane Armitage, commercial property partner at North East law firm Mincoff Jacksons, said: “It is a good idea to register any unregistered land, particularly if you plan to undertake any transactions in the future.”

To encourage land-owners to act now, Mincoff Jacksons is offering a special rate of £125 plus VAT and disbursements for non-residential property and £75 plus VAT and disbursements for residential properties to register title at the Land Registry.
