Darron Barker from the Newcastle office of commercial property firm Lambert Smith Hampton said Enigma’s plans showed the Quayside still holds its appeal despite the recession.
Carri Cunliffe of North East digital industry body Codeworks said: “Enigma has some huge clients and has been a major force in the region’s digital sector for over ten years.
“It’s terrific that they’re continuing to expand, and that they’re keen to continue working with other technology firms in the region.”
Return to glory
IN A previous life it was the stamping ground of industrialists and potters, but today it counts digital, marketing and audio visual firms as its tenants.
The Hoults Yard in Newcastle is one of a number of creative hubs which have risen from the ashes of Tyneside’s former industrial glories.
And, with Enigma Interactive’s plans to create a new digital epicentre on the Quayside, the city’s creative stable looks set to continue to grow.
A few miles up the road, in the city centre, stands the i6 Charlotte Square – a Grade II listed building which software, multimedia and IT tenants all call home.
There are even plans to create an incubation area for Tyneside’s digital businesses in the virtual world.
