Tag n Go inventors cease trading

A NORTHUMBERLAND company which developed pioneering child safety technology has called in the liquidators.

Blyth telecoms firm DataSMS has issued a statement saying it has entered voluntary liquidation because it can not continue to trade “by reason of its liabilities”.

Martin Daly and William Paxton of Robson Laidler have been appointed as joint liquidators, both of whom were unavailable for comment yesterday.

Last year, the firm looked to be flourishing after receiving wide-spread interest for its child safety device, which was later adapted to protect the welfare of elderly people and globe-trotting backpackers. The Tag n Go system involved a brightly-coloured wristband marked with a unique code which parents, teachers or guardians register with a central database that becomes activated should a person go missing

The system helped DataSMS win a deal to supply wristbands to 550 travel agents across the country.
