New contract fuels growth hope

A STOKESLEY facilities management provider is aiming to almost double turnover in two years after winning a £2.9m contract.
Anabas, which works with several national blue-chips, will manage the re-location of 180 staff at specialty pharmaceutical company Norgine.
Currently based over two sites, the workers will be re-housed in 47,500 sq ft of office space in Harefield, Uxbridge.
The work will take up to 12 months and follows several contract wins for Anabas including a six-figure deal to provide maintenance services for national retailer L’Occitane.
Anabas generates £12m of sales annually and is aiming to hit £20m by 2011 primarily through organic growth. Acquisitions have not been ruled out although MD Mark Cooper has no plans to float the company.
He says: “We do fight above our weight. Everything we have done has been grown organically.”
He said Anabas would aim for further organic growth by targeting national clients and providing add-on services for existing clients. The company is in discussions with a “significant high street retailer” and already has on its client base GAP, The Body Shop, MTV, Crabtree & Evelyn, Nickelodeon, The Newspaper Society and City & Guilds.
The Body Shop contract alone brings Anabas around £500,000 worth of business each year.
Established in 2003, Anabas employs more than 900 people throughout the UK - including around 100 full time staff - and works across the leisure, retail and commercial sectors.
An aggressive marketing and business development strategy has seen it expand rapidly from Stokesley and another site in London.
A core strength in design and fit-out work has been instrumental in allowing Anabas to win several contracts, including the Norgine deal.
Norgine has been established for more than 100 years and has a strong presence in European markets.
In 2008 the company, which employs more than 1,000 people, generated net product sales of 233m euros - the 22nd year of double-digit growth at constant exchange rates.
Norgine specialises in the development and marketing of pharmaceutical products in areas such as gastroenterology, hepatology and pain management.
The company currently markets products such as MOVICOL® for the treatment of constipation and faecal impaction; MOVIPREP®, a new generation of bowel cleansing preparation; and KLEAN-PREP® for bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy.
Jo Pillai, VP Human Resources at Norgine, said: “We have previously been through the process of refurbishing and re-fitting our existing spaces and we now have a fantastic opportunity to create a new home with the help of Anabas.”
