Tristar plea to local firms

TRISTAR Homes in Stockton is urging more local businesses to tender for contracts after it revealed that more than half of its £5.4m annual budget is spent in the Tees Valley.
The company has 236 local suppliers on its books out of a total of 470.
Procurement manager David Hill said: “Actively encouraging local small and medium enterprises to tender for goods and services will not only allow us to look at costing alternatives but provide the region with a much needed economic boost.”
Tristar recently joined the National Procurement Concordat, which encourages large companies to enlist SMEs in delivering elements of larger contracts and framework agreements.
It said it would be building up a local supplier database which will be notified of potential events and procurement opportunities via Tristar Homes’ website.
MD Steve Boyd, who said there were considerable benefits to be accrued from using local businesses, added: “There are so many fantastic local companies that could provide Tristar with a unique service combined with dedication and hard work.
“We want to raise the amount of local businesses used beyond the 50% base and connect Tristar with the community even further.”
The company is also helping local businesses by advertising in local publications for contracts over a certain value, placing all tenders in advertisements using the local media.
