TWO North East technology companies have made it into a prestigious list of the top 100 UK businesses in their field.
Gateshead-based Eutechnyx and Newcastle-based Quick.tv have been singled out for praise in the Tech Media Invest Top 100 List.
Eutechnyx was recognised for its new Auto Club Revolution (ACR) online racing game development strategy and the technical advances featured in its design.
Quick.tv has been rewarded for its developments in the use of technology used to make online video interactive.
Tech Media Invest Top 100 is a list of emerging and innovative companies in the technology and media industries.
A spokesman for the list’s organisers, which is compiled in association with Europe Unlimited, Kemp Little, The Guardian and PricewaterhouseCoopers, said: "This year’s list represents the most compelling companies in the sector and some of the best companies in any industry."
Darren Jobling, director of business development at Eutechnyx, said: "Auto Club Revolution is generating huge interest around the world from investors, car manufacturers and online game publishers interested in the next evolution in free-to-play racing games.
"This acknowledgement that ACR is one of the top 100 creative technology projects in the UK today illustrates that Eutechnyx is on to something very big indeed in the world of internet gaming."
Quick.tv was set up by entrepreneur Nick Bell, who made almost £1m in the late 90s, aged just 16, when he sold magazine website teenfront.com and he has since launched a string of other online businesses. It enables digital media output to be interactive.
