Python’s artistic licence grows
EMBRACING the arts is good for business, says a Teesside developer which is planning to expand its work linking culture and commerce.
Middlesbrough-based commercial property experts Python Properties launched its gallery at Royal Middlehaven House in the town’s Gosforth Street three years ago. Its latest exhibition - Reflection - features a selection of work by artists who graduated from Teesside University earlier this year and runs until October 30.
However Martin Johnson, a partner in Python Properties, said the gallery had proved such a hit that the company was now set to introduce smaller exhibition spaces into some of its other buildings in a bid to woo tenants.
Victoria House in Albert Road and the award-winning Co-operative building on Linthorpe Road are also set to showcase works of art, along with other Python buildings in Warrington and Bradford.
“Middlehaven House is a great example of how cultural regeneration assists the town’s regeneration,” said Mr Johnson. “People love the environment of this building. The gallery makes it much more than just an office block and it has helped us bring tenants into the building.”
