Uni shortlisted again

TEESSIDE University has been shortlisted for a top award for its impact on the business community following the success of an innovative training programme with the North East Chamber of Commerce.

The announcement comes just weeks after receiving a nomination for top university in the UK. Both awards by the Times Higher Education magazine will be announced later in October.

“We have been nominated not only for university of the year, but also for outstanding employer engagement initiative – an award that recognises business partnerships delivering real impact,” said Laura Woods, director of academic enterprise. The nomination is based on the business school’s partnership with the NECC which has seen 80 students from regional companies embark on a pioneering foundation degree in leadership and management, delivered at a pace that suits employees.

“This is one example of the way we can make our specialist expertise work for business - developing the skills and the innovation that will help North-east business get ahead,” added Ms Wood.
