Gone in five seconds

DOTCOM developer Visualsoft is to recruit 10 more staff to its ecommerce development team.

The new drive comes just six months after the firm moved to larger premises on Portrack Lane in Stockton, where it doubled the number of employees to 41.

Joint director Dean Benson said the rapid expansion was fuelled by demand for its innovative digital sales platforms where it was developing features that put the right products in front of customers within five seconds - the average digital shopper’s concentration span. “It’s shorter than a goldfish’s,” he said.

Visualsoft, which has established its own research and development team following a string of firsts - notably in partnership with eBay and Google - said its most recent launch, sister company designerclothing.com innovative fashion portal, had notched up 4,000 indexed pages on Google despite not yet being fully operational.

Designerclothing’s team had mapped 14,000 products on the site, which collects data from consumers for the fashion industry, putting it half way to well established rival ASOS’s 25,000 total.

“We’ve only been launched three weeks and we are already catching up,” said Mr Benson.

“Rapid conversion is key,” he said. “Ecommerce shoppers have a five second attention span.”
