MP leads redundancy-busting campaign
A TEES Valley MP is heading up a campaign which has led to a formal agreement allowing employment experts into insolvent firms to speak to staff facing redundancy.
Sedgefield MP Phil Wilson, Employment Minister Jim Knight, Business Minister Ian Lucas, the Insolvency service and Jobcentre Plus will sign a memorandum of understanding with trade body R3, which represents 97% of the UK’s insolvency practitioners.
The agreement will encourage members to inform Jobcentre Plus as soon as they know redundancies are to be made - allowing staff to receive career guidance before they lose their jobs.
