Shops in line for awards

SUNDERLAND City Centre Management and Sunderland City Council have launched the first Sunderland City Centre Retail Awards.

These awards, which also form part of the council's Shop Sunderland FIRST campaign to encourage the city's residents to spend in Sunderland, are open to retailers of all descriptions and sizes.

Members of the public can nominate their favourite city centre retailer in four separate categories. These are Coffee Shop of the Year, Independent Retailer of the Year, Small Retailer of the Year, High Street Retailer of the Year and the Lovely Lunch award.

Store managers will be asked to submit their nominations for the Marketing/Advertising Initiative of the Year and the Sunderland Shooting Star award, dedicated to staff members who go beyond the call of duty.

The Customer Service Experience of the Year category will be open to nominations from both managers and members of the public.
