New press investment for Newcastle firm

NEWCASTLE printer statexcolourprint has invested £1.5m in a new press to improve the speed and efficiency of its growing business.

The firm’s second 10-colour printer and will have a significant impact on output, said James Dark, joint managing director and co-founder of statexcolourprint with Graham Minett.

“We would generally only replace a press like this after five to seven years, but the advances in technology have been so great over the last two years that we felt it was crucial to invest now,” he said.

“It will benefit our clients because it is faster and quicker to set up, which means it should make us more cost effective. It will also have less waste and our workforce is looking forward to operating a press which embraces the very latest technology.

“We are in a very demanding business and this press makes us more competitive.”

Statexcolourprint employs 90 and handles a full range of print requirements, from stationery to annual reports, general commercial work and art brochures.

Much of the work is colour critical and the new Heidelberg press will continuously monitor and adjust colour throughout a print run, rather than relying on an operator to monitor, scan and adjust.
