Newcastle Business School celebrates 20 years
NEWCASTLE Business School welcomed back some of the most successful of its 20,000 graduates to toast its 20th anniversary last night.
Alumni were joined by academics and leading figures in commerce at Northumbria University’s striking new City Campus East for the official celebrations of its successful first 20 years.
Newcastle Business School dean Paul Croney said: “ Upon reflection of the past two decades I am delighted and very proud to be a part of a school that has achieved so much in that time.”
The school has built up an international reputation through a network of global partners in academia, business and industry. And the school has made the university one of the first UK institutions to form partnerships in countries such as Germany, Spain, China, Malaysia and Greece.
Newcastle Business School is the largest UK provider of business and management education in Hong Kong and works with corporate clients including Procter and Gamble, Nexus and eaga plc.
One of the special guests at yesterday’s celebrations was Jonathan Marchbank who graduated from Northumbria University 23 years ago with an HND in Business Studies and has risen to hold a number to top corporate jobs. He is currently behind the $750m sale of Virgin Mobile in his job as chief operating officer of Virgin Mobile USA. Marchbank yesterday gave a talk on the wireless industry and a few career tips to current students.
