Gerard Callaghan is convinced that this could become the norm for employers who find it a struggle to give up the time and resources to undergo lengthy interview processes.
He said: “Companies are moving more and more towards video conferencing as technology improves and broadband speeds increase.
“The recession has proved to be a catalyst for this migration as managers no longer have the time or resources to travel around the world or even around the country to attend meetings and interviews.
“Also, our technology can record an entire online conference or seminar for future reference, which allows people to concentrate on what is being said without having to take notes.
“We are also adapting the software to be used by financial directors to present their end of year reporting, which will create even wider appeal.”
The firm is part of the Leighton Group, headed by Paul Callaghan, but trades as a separate company after completing its ‘hatchery’ stage at Leighton’s Evolve Centre building at Rainton Bridge Business Park.
Gerard Callaghan has been involved with a number of companies within the group since 1992. He was chief executive of domainnames.com, which was sold on in 2000, and headed up 4.projects.com, which was bought out by its management.
Michelle Cooper, investment manager at NSEI, said: “Our investment in WorkCast demonstrates our confidence in the management team and their ability to further develop their innovative solutions.
“Our Proof of Concept team saw the potential in WorkCast earlier in the year and we are excited about their position within a rapidly growing industry sector.”
