Coaching to get to next level

MORE than 150 high growth businesses in the North-east are to each receive around £20,000 of intensive coaching to get them to the next stage of development.

Regional development agency One North East has approved the business support project - Coaching for High Growth.

The project is being part financed by £1.18m from the European Regional Development Fund 2007-13.

The ERDF investment secured through One North East has been matched by the agency contributing a further £1.78m from its Single Programme.

Business development organisation Entrust has been commissioned to manage and co-ordinate the initiative.

Working with other business support organisations such as Business Link, MAS North East, regional universities and centres of excellence, Entrust will identify high growth businesses and move them rapidly on to the next stage of their development.

Potential candidates will be recommended by these organisations and assigned to client managers and coaches who will work with them to develop specific growth plans with key milestones and targets.

The average value of coaching support per beneficiary company is expected to be more than £20,000.

“The companies we’re looking at are those undergoing a transformational change,” said Tim Pain, One North East head of business, enterprise and skills.
