A TECHNOLOGY firm is to set up a new facility in the region to develop the next generation of antennae products.
Newcastle-based antenna design and manufacturing firm Inotek will use new investment from venture capitalist NEL Capital to open a development and design centre in the region.
The company will use its existing links with Northumbria University to open a centre which will aim to service the technological demands of both the UK and emerging markets.
A significant part of the UK cellular networks owned by Vodafone, O2, Orange, 3 and T-Mobile have also harnessed Inotek’s equipment.
The company’s new research and development facilities will be built with the aim of manufacturing 50,000 units a year to supply to the world.
Non-executive director Shyam Karode said: “The challenge for us now is to design the next-generation products that are required to meet the needs of the UK and, in time, emerging economies elsewhare in the world.”
