House sales steady
HOUSE sales are holding up in the region despite a fall in demand, new research has shown.
The RICS Housing Market Survey for November said average sales per surveyor in the North-east was maintained at 17. But new buyer enquires saw a sharp decline, falling from 50% in October to a negative reading of 9% in November. The North-east is now one of only two regions across the UK and Wales with a negative net balance. But on the supply side, new instructions to sell property increased by 4% in November - with up to 36% of surveyors reporting a rise. RICS said the rise in supply and fall in demand may have impacted upon prices, which fell for the first time in three months.
