A STOCKTON garden centre is getting wired up to attract a new breed of customer.

Peter Barratt’s is offering free high-speed Wi-Fi access at Cafe Jardin - the restaurant attached to its Preston Farm branch.

Bosses hope the centre’s easy-to-reach location, just off the A66 on Yarm Road, will appeal to customers who want to drop in during their working day, or arrange to meet up with associates for business or lunch meetings.

“This is an opportunity for business people to come to the garden centre, use the facilities and grab a cup of tea or coffee,” said Peter Barratt’s assistant manager, Diane Armstrong. “Our location just off the A66 means people can use the garden centre instead of a motorway services. We are not just about being a garden centre.”

“We are always interested in new ideas and technology,” added manager Stuart Wood.

“There’s definitely a customer demand for this service and we’re really pleased to be able to offer it. Customers can have their business meetings at the garden centre, receive emails and use their laptops.”
