Animal hospital expands with third branch

THE vets practice which runs Darlington’s only animal hospital has just expanded into its third branch.

Stanhope Park Veterinary Practise

Stanhope Park Veterinary Practise, which is run by Micaela Wright, has taken over David McCabe’s 40-year-old practice in Yarm after he retired last year.

The new High Street branch, which has three staff, is the third in Stanhope’s portfolio, joining others in Darlington and Middleton St. George.

The surgery will offer a wide range of services and specialist out-of-hours help where animals are cared for at the Darlington Veterinary Hospital.

The expansion comes after six months of planning by Ms Wright, who became sole owner of Stanhope Veterinary Practice a year ago, after 10 years as partner of the firm.

She said: “To be taking over from a long-standing respected professional such as Mr McCabe, is an honour; when most businesses are scaling back, we are proud to be launching this new opportunity and creating jobs in the town.

New vets Claire Furness and Kate Slaymaker will jointly manage the day-to-day operations of the surgery alongside receptionist Jayne York, who has been retained following the acquisition.
