Freeze-up brings a warm glow to CVO

Andrew Munro

THE January cold snap has ignited trade at homeheater, CVO Fire.

The Newton Aycliffe company, which warms the toes of the rich and famous with its designer fireplaces, said it had enjoyed a record start to the year with the number of new enquiries up by almost 50% and new leads peaking at around 1,000 per week, compared to an average 500 in 2009.

MD Andrew Munro, said: “Already many of the new leads have turned into sales - more than is usual for this time of year - and every customer that the team speaks to says it is purely down to the cold weather. So it has certainly been a boost for us.”

The company specialises in making energy-efficient flueless designs, which are said to cut running costs by up to 60% compared to chimney fires.

Everything from components to burner units is produced on site and shipped across the world.

It has worked with at least one Hollywood director as well as British celebrities and footballers and major brands such as Hilton and Marriott, Greene King, Carlton and Sheraton.

This year will see the addition of a new flagship showroom in South-east England and another in Germany, which is forecast to increase turnover by around 50%, said Mr Munro.
