Green light for Teesside business park

The most recent approval - of the intended infrastructure, including internal road layouts, drainage and landscaping - given by Hartlepool Council, means development of the new masterplan for the land can go ahead.

Planning consultant Steve Barker, of Prism Planning in Darlington, said: “Wynyard started in the 1980s as a business park to complement the arrival of Samsung, but the larger part of the site wasn’t developed and the permission lay dormant for a number of years.

"We have worked with Wynyard Park Ltd for a couple of years towards securing this permission. We are delighted that this successful outcome means that the development can go ahead.”

The development will be one of the most sustainable, large scale schemes in the North-east.

As part of the application Wynyard Park Ltd has committed to contributing £1.7m towards road improvements on the A19/A689.

Mr Barker added: “The site for the proposed hospital lies in the centre of the approved scheme and we are looking forward to working with and alongside North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

“The rest of the development will wrap around the hospital. There are now some great opportunities to attract clusters of medical related research and support services to create a vibrant and innovative community at Wynyard.”
