CableCom Training makes investment at Tees Valley business park
A TEESSIDE training provider is making a seven-figure investment at a Tees Valley business park as part of its on-going expansion.
CableCom Training is relocating its head offices to the Westland Way business park on the outskirts of Stockton.
The company, which is currently based in Thornaby, has commissioned a new office building at TM Urban Development’s 18-acre site.
The new 8,000sq ft premises will provide three times more space than its present location.
The rapidly expanding business was set up in 2000 to provide training for clients in a wide range of sectors including telecommunications, waste management, transportation and health and safety.
It has also recently launched new apprenticeship programmes working in partnership with local colleges.
Training manager Tony Horridge says the move cannot happen quickly enough. “The business is continuing to grow and diversify into new areas,” he added.
“Our head office needs to reflect our position in the industry and the Westland Way development offers us the ideal opportunity to create a prestigious new building.”
The company currently employs 12 full-time staff but has up to 35 assessors and trainers who work for the company on a project basis dependent on which programmes are running.
Tony added: “As we are introducing conferencing facilities at the new build, we intend to create a new post for a conferencing facilities co-coordinator, we are also increasing staffing levels to cater for new provision in electronic security and emergency systems and the new apprenticeship programmes we have/are about to roll out.
“The new build enables us to be more employer responsive and cater for all their needs.”
The CableCom office is the third building in the first phase of planned development at Westland Way. It joins buildings owned by leading independent providers of communication network services, Map Group uk, and Henderson Insurance Brokers.
Anthony Wattis, MD of TM Urban Developments which owns and develops Westland Way, said: “By the summer we will have completed three buildings that are not only completed but are also owned and occupied, which is a fantastic achievement.”
