Olympic contracts help North East event

AN event which gets underway today will give North East companies an insight into business opportunities coming out of the London 2012 Olympic procurement programme.

The event – Business Exchange North East – takes place today and tomorrow at Newcastle Racecourse & Conference Centre.

Laurie Neville, procurement programme manager from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games will speak at a seminar to outline the committee’s procurement approach.

The session will include information on contracts to provide products and services in a range of areas, from security, catering and facilities management to transport and logistics.

Chris Bell, buyer engagement manager at the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), will advise on how businesses in the region can get the most out of the CompeteFor website – www.competefor.com – one of the main access routes to 2012 contracts.

Compete North East, funded by One North East, will have a stand advising firms on how to register on the CompeteFor site, which is used to match suppliers with buyers for opportunities around the London 2012 Games.
