A WELL-known Tyneside hotel has been bought from administrators for around £6m.
The 57-bed New Northumbria Hotel on Osborne Road, near Newcastle, contains two restaurants – Scalini’s Jesmond, and Louis’ Restaurant, and also two bars, Osborne’s Bar and Bar Polo.
It was formerly owned by WG Mitchell and had been put into the hands of administrators Ernst & Young two years ago.
David Lee, director at property agents Christie + Co, handled the sale, he said: “We are delighted to have secured this long-established hotel, which has generated an admirable reputation, for our client. The mid-market hotel sector offers fantastic investment opportunities.”
