Brulines buying spree continues

STOCKTON data management firm Brulines is to continue its acquisition spree with the purchase of a Leicestershire fuel monitoring specialist.

The takeover of Energy Level Systems (ELS) from Astoncrest Consultants is the latest in a string of acquisitions by the Teesside firm, which bought Sunderland fuel monitoring technology firm Edensure and Dunfermline data capture specialist Vianet in 2008.

The previous year Brulines acquired amusement and gaming specialist Coin Metrics and Nucleus Data Holdings, a pub data firm in Tadcaster.

The latest deal will give Brulines a stronger foothold in the petrol forecourt sector - a key part of its growth strategy.

ELS is involved in the supply, installation and maintenance of tank gauging systems, driver controlled delivery products, tanker delivery systems, energy controllers and LED lighting. Its technology can identify leaking tanks or pumps dispersing too much or too little fuel.

Brulines will pay an initial £700,000 in cash for ELS, followed by a deferred payment of up to £1.35m depending on earnings generated in the two years to March 2012.

ELS recorded an adjusted EBIT - earnings before interest and tax - of £59,000 on turnover of £724,000 in the year to 31 January 2010.
