Barclays is backing brilliant new ideas

Amanda Shepherd

ENTREPRENEURS have the chance to begin their journey to success in a competition run by one of the UK's main high street banks.

The Barclays Business bus will be taking to the streets of Newcastle next Wednesday to bring the bank's £500,000 Take One Small Step competition to life.

The competition is open to people in well-established businesses and those with just the spark of a great idea. Entrants could win one of 10 prizes worth £50,000.

The bus will contain all the information needed to enter the competition, with Barclays Local Business experts on hand to provide general advice to businesses.

Amanda Shepherd, Barclays business regional director for the North East, said: “Despite the downturn clearly many businesses and new start-ups are still striving for greater success.

“Through this competition and the bus we're hoping to give them a boost, but also help nurture great new businesses at the same time.”

A series of seminars around the UK will run in conjunction with the campaign.

The bus is part of Barclays’ Take One Small Step competition which aims to find Britain's best new business ideas whether that's a new business starting up or an existing business looking to branch out into something new.

A panel of local expert judges will shortlist the three best business ideas per region.
