New role to oversee expansion

THE former boss of a North East bakery company has joined Northern Recruitment Group where he will head up the company’s expansion across Yorkshire.

The Newcastle-based recruitment company has appointed Greg Phillips to build its business from its York office.

The company was impressed with his entrepreneurial experience which included launching his North East bakery business, which had been lauded as a success before being forced to close its 13 Nichols outlets last year after going into administration.

Mr Phillips said: “I am delighted to have joined a successful and progressive business at NRG. It is an exciting opportunity for me, building on a strong brand and working with excellent people.

“It’s a role that will suit my entrepreneurial nature and I am looking forward to helping other organisations grow by delivering first-class recruitment solutions”.

Greg won a number of accolades whilst leading North East Bakery, including the Emerging Talent Award from the Entrepreneurs Forum, the David Goldman Business Award from Newcastle University, the Evening Chronicle’s North East Young Business Person of the Year award and was shortlisted for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

NRG also has offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London and has been responsible for recruiting senior people to some of the most influential positions in businesses and other organisations across the North East and beyond.

Therese Liddle, NRG’s managing director, said: “Greg is an excellent appointment for NRG and we’re confident he’ll spearhead our expansion across the Yorkshire region with his wealth of business experience, passion and drive.

“I’m sure he’ll enjoy working with our great team here at NRG and we’re delighted to have him on board.”
