Barratt North East site managers win top awards

Steve Bellamy, Mark Summersgill and Graeme Simpson

FOUR Barratt North East site managers are building pride into their jobs after scooping top awards in a contest to find Britain's best-run building sites.

The Pride in the Job Awards are run by the National House-Building Council (NHBC) and are handed out after spot check site inspections to find Britain’s best-organised and best-quality housing developments.

Barratt’s Steve Bellamy, based at Beechwood in Sacriston, Durham, Michael Marram, at Lyons Park, Hetton-le-Hole, Graeme Simpson, at Mandale Park, Thornaby, and Mark Summersgill, at The Chase, Ingleby Barwick, now go forward to the next round of the competition. It is the second consecutive year that Mr Summersgill has taken a Quality Award.

Barratt North East managing director, Mike Roberts, said: “The official recognition of the jobs which Steve, Michael, Graeme and Mark are doing shows that Barratt is building some of the best quality homes in the country here in the North East.

“The site manager plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality new homes and that is why we are so delighted with all four of these national awards.”

Barratt, which started life as a North East firm, aims to build 11,500 homes during its current financial year, making it the biggest housebuilder in Britain by volume. The company has also just become the first major housebuilder to be awarded a five-star rating for customer satisfaction by the Home Builders Federation.
