PricewaterhouseCoopers has two new partners

THE Newcastle office of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has two new partners with long-standing corporate finance chief Paul Mankin making the step up along with education specialist Sara Caplan.

Well-known in the region’s dealmaking community Mr Mankin was the first full-time staff member of PwC’s Newcastle corporate finance team back in 1988, and has led that team since 2004.

During recent years the Newcastle corporate finance team has been PwC’s most successful regional team in the UK in terms of fee generation in relation to targets.

Mr Mankin has advised on a number of significant and high profile transactions locally which recently have included the disposals of Gateshead-based Anson, Darlington-based CTC Marine and the private equity-backed MBO at SMD, of Newcastle.

In addition to his work in the region, Paul has led a series of disposals across Europe for Pfizer Inc, the world’s largest pharmaceutical company.

His achievements have been widely recognised in the local business community and he has received numerous accolades including Accountant of the Year at the North East Accountancy Awards and Dealmaker of the Year at the inaugural Journal Dealmaker awards.

Ms Caplan has been a member of PwC’s consulting practice for a year, and leads the Further Education and Skills team nationally, working across public and private sector with government education departments and agencies, further education colleges and private training providers.

She hails from Whitley Bay and is the only person ever to have been awarded a Women in the City Achievement Award for Management Consultancy.
