Weatherproofing Advisors set to take on 50 staff

ROOFING firm Weatherproofing Advisors plans to take on 50 new workers over the next three years, including 12 more in its Newcastle office.

The introduction of its online roof management programme Realm has attracted 100 companies since April this year, and bosses believe it will help increase turnover by a third by 2013.

The company currently employs 100 staff across its offices in Wallsend, St Helens and Glasgow, 25 of whom are based at Wallsend.

Director Frank Gaskell said: “The introduction of Realm is improving our turnover already. Over the next three years we’re looking to go from £12m turnover to about £16m and hopefully more than that.

“We’re also considering opening a new depot in West Yorkshire, and the company is very much looking forward to expanding further south and maybe setting up in the midlands at some point.”

The company’s Realm system, the name comes from Roofplan Estate Asset Life-cycle Management, allows maintenance managers to access a personally-tailored site with updates on work done on their building’s roof.

The tool has attracted schools and hospitals, and Weatherproofing Solutions has worked with North East institutions such as Siemens, Newcastle University and Newcastle’s £55m PFI schools scheme.
