TRIBUTES have been paid to a director at North East electronics firm Stadium Group who was tragically killed along with his two daughters during the hijacking of a tourist bus in Manila earlier this week.

Ken Leung, who was managing director of the Hartlepool company’s Asian business, Stadium Asia, was caught up in the violence while travelling with his wife, son, and two daughters, Jessie Leung, 14, and Doris Leung, 20.

The 12-hour siege ended when the gunman, 55-year-old former senior inspector Rolando Mendoza, was shot by police after appearing by the bus door.

Mr Leung’s wife Amy was unhurt, and their son, Jason Leung, 18, remains in hospital.

His colleagues said they were in a state of shock following the news, with Mr Leung helping Stadium expand its operations across Asia from the company’s offices in Hong Kong and China.

Mr Leung, who was 58 and was a dual-Canadian citizen living in Hong Kong, had been with Stadium since 2000 and had joined its board of directors in December 2002.
